Hi guys.

Been to my local auto factors today to pick up a new fan belt, they sed there was 2 types, so i bought both, cos i wasnt sure which one, altleast that way i can take the other back if its wrong.

They supplied me with 'Gates' belts -micro-V XF

one has part number 6pck1740, the other 6pck 1753

does anyone happen to know which is correct? im sure im gonna find out soon enough when i get the old one off. My car is a HDI 110 2000- X reg

Thanks

The simple answer is that either could be correct.
The numbers on the belt mean ...6Pk is the number of slots in the belt (width) and the other numbers are the length of the belt, eg, 1,740 mm or 1,753 mm.

As you say, you will know when you remove the old one, if the length is different to the one that comes off, try to fit the shorter one, but fit the one nearest in length regardless.

From memory, I think mine was the 1740.

I think it depends on the make of the air con compressor - Sandin and, erm, not Sandin

Well when i asked she sed is it a sanden ( wotever its called) or a delphi, but im pretty sure last time i got a belt it was for a delphi, and turned out to be wrong. Thats why i got both cos i not 100% sure.

I don't think the delphi compressor is very common, and the sanden(sp?) is more likely to be the one.

I had the same problem when doing the bottom pulley the other week, and as my mate works in the motor factors let me take both and return the one I didn't need.
