I have just bought a 02 plate 2 litre HDI 406 estate and noticed a blowing from the number 4 injector. Am I correct in thinking this will probabaly be a sealing washer problem and if I am correct has anyone had it done at a garage how much roughly I should expect to pay (if thats all it is??) Also would I expect a drop in power from this problem. The engine at tickover is steady as a rock so no misfires and pulls ok although I am not sure what power I should expect. I previously had an 01 plate mondeo TDDI and that had a lot more ooomph when you put your foot down but from other forums I have seen I have noted that the 406 hdi is not as powerful
cheers

on the 3 HDI's that have had a leak from an injector that i have seen, just a quick tweak to the tightness of the nut on the fork that holds the injector in has cured it on all 3 occasions, best done whilst the engine is running as you can see the leak stop, the nut is supposed to be torqued to 40nm so it could be that it was under torqued or has loosened.
If you do need a new washer, it depends on how easily the injector comes out, but if they have been leaking, they seem to just pull out and 1 hour of labour at a dealers should see it done (the washer is about 40p !)

Great. Thanks for that info. Is the blowing back pressure from cylinder or the pressure of theinjected fuel??? Also whilst it is leaking will that cylinder lack power?
