Evening All
Having a bit of a braking problem with my car, firstly the ABS light comes on and says abs fault on the screen in the centre console also sometimes i get a brake judder almost like worn brakes even though they are not and today on the way home i was driving on the motorway and had to brake hard but my brakes wouldnt have it and nearly didnt stop it was almost as if the pedal was pushing back at me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ABS Fault And Braking Issue
sounds like you might have a fault with the master cylinder not giving enough force then giving to much so the abs backs it off
whats the fluid like? any crap in the master cylinder?

Re: ABS Fault And Braking Issue
My Xantia did this when I had an intermittent fault with a sensor.
Your symptoms sound identical to what I was suffering.
Unplugged the ABS controller and all was well again.
I never found out which sensor was at fault though as I stuck the car into a field not long after (ABS wouldn't have helped there)
Cheers

How about if you pull the fuse on the ABS? I'm thinking wheel sensor too.

Re: ABS Fault And Braking Issue
Sounds like totally unrelated problems both on the braking system, if you pedal is going hard and feeling like there is nothing there you have a servo problem, try and apply the brake gently and see if there is anything there and then slam the brakes on and see if they go hard strait away, then you have a vacuum problem. as for the abs fault a 30-40 pound diagnostic at any capable garage will let you know which sensor is playing up on the car. Not worth the risk having unadequate brakes on the car, no matter how much it costs.
