I would use a 5w30 fully synthetic, doesn't matter who's name is on the label.

Fully synthetic is just that....fully synthetic, ie, not mineral oil.
Part synthetic is mineral oil based, but is mixed with the chemicals used to produce fully synthetic oil.
Semi synthetic is half synthetic and half mineral oil.
Fully synthetic is top quality, it doesn't break down with high temperature use and has a longer life.
Semi synthetic has a longer life span and is better quality than part synthetic.
These days you have to be very careful which oil you use for different engines, because yours is a performance car you need a fully synthetic oil for its abilty to keep its quality with high speed and high temperature use.
Part synthetic would be fine for something like an old Fiesta or Metro, semi synthetic is fine for lots of cars including the HDi Peugeot engines, except for the ones with particulate filters which need a special low ash or DPF oil.

Hmm I've always used semi-synth in my V6s...

Nothing wrong with following the makers recommendation.
I service vehicles for a living and have responsibilities to my customers, therefore, I will always use what I think is the best oil for the engine, if i'm not sure I will use what is recommended, or a higher spec oil to cover myself, in case there is an engine fault somewhere down the line and I get accused of using cheap oil.
There are so many types of oil and engines, yesterday, I serviced a Citroen Dispatch (40,000 mile second service, for my fleet customer), it has a DPF so I fitted a DPF, 5w30 fully synthetic oil, tomorrow I have a VW TDi to service, I will be using a Longlife 5w30 fully synthetic oil special for VW/Audi use.If I have a Ford or Vauxhall to service I will always use a 5w30 oil, semi synthetic or fully synthetic depending on what it says in the handbook, if it's a later engine I will probably use the Longlife 5w30.If the car I have to service is a performance car, I will always fit a fully synthetic oil....no comebacks then.
Bottom line....if you are not sure which oil to use, get your supplier to look up the recommended oil for your car, if you still don't know, ring the dealer.
