Non genuine parts.

Is the stuff supplied by GSF any good? I ask because I need front discs/pads and although there are a numer of motor factors I could use, they seem fairly cheap. Another reason is that I run an air cooled VW for fun and some of the parts available, not particularly from GSF but many other companies, are of shockingly poor quality.
Would appreciate peoples opinions,
thanks, Pete.

Morning Pete, welcome to the club
GSF are great. Be careful of aftermarket brakes though, I'd only buy reputable brands when it comes to the safety critical stuff

. Loads of us on here have used Mintex brake bits and are very happy with them. Got mine off ebay, they were very reasonable.
What model / year's your car?

And what's the air cooled VW?
Quite often the "pattern" part is the same as the one you get from Peugeot, just in a different package and for a third the price

Hi Pete, glad to see you have a VW too! I have a 1971 Beetle myself, although it's been sat in a garage for the past few years waiting for about £5000 to be spent on it. Oh and waiting for me to have £5000!!
I use to use GSF for most of my parts, but find EuroCarParts usually have a better quality these days, although they are probably the same manufacturers. With regards to brakes, I buy Mintex from ebay usually which are pretty cheap but very good quality.
David.

The Pug is an '02 1.8 16v Rapier estate and the VW is a '68 Bus (a very early Bay window) lowered, scruffy with part camper interior an grinning idiot behind the wheel! We used to have the same thing years ago with VW parts, Pagid brake parts were original suppliers, Pagid on the box, £10, VW on the box, £30. Same box contents. Now though, a lot/most ac VW stuff comes from South America, (even Bosch branded) and quite frankly is rubbish. Don't want to fall foul of the same situation, as said, brakes are rather important!
Thanks for the replies, looks like e-bay Mintex is the way forward!
