Are the 406's supposed to have some form of passive steering?
I ask as all the dodgey bushes on my rear suspension have been sorted yet still when I stick it into a corner it feels like the back end is turning itself. You stick it into a corner then a split second later the back end tucks in tighter? Is this passive steering? Or is it more because my car's quite long?

Yeah I think it has got passive rear steering. Can't say I really notice it but it can carry speed through corners pretty impressively for such a big old bus.

Mine's always chewed rear tyres, I notice the latest set are looking pretty bad too and I think they're not that old yet (haven't checked the milage yet). Might have to get the 4 wheel alignment checked but again I'm suffering the old problem that I just don't trust anyone to do it . D'ya think I've got trust issues

just replace my rear bushes and rear track arms got a 4 wheel laser alignment done and the back end seems to give up easy on roundabouts always comes back ok have 3 good tyre need a new one just had a blow out tonite

The 306 and the 406 have passive rear wheel steering which is kinda forced by loading the suspension sideways. Drivers will feel a 'shift' whilst in a bend as the rear sussy loads up.

Mine used to feel far too rear-endy at one point until I replaced the front tyres

Dont blame you . My mother got all four tyres changed on her 307. A week later I noticed that one of the tyres was on backwards. I went mental and got it changed straight away. If its on backwards it retains water from the road instead if dispersing it. They changed it. They tracking was all off whack when we got it back and the wheels were out of balance. It took me a while to figure it out cos I wasnt driving it.

Just got the tracking sorted in it last week. Ten minutes after the tracking was done perfectly (even got the printout), it started pulling to the left again.

Im just gonna bring it to a new place and tell them the whole story and how concerned I am about the cars safety condition. Then they might realise they will get grief if its not done properly.

If it is then the rear outer trail arm bushes need replacing if I remember correctly? Both mine had to be done.

Pulling on a cambered road or on the flat? 406s LOVE pulling towards cambers (especially the V6 with its vile variable PAS )

There's also quite a few other things that can cause pulling to the side, like not-quite-perfect subframe alignment, worn bushes, worn hub bearing, rubbing brake...

Its my ma's 307. No variable PAS thank god. I'll look into the above though.

After having a load of rear bushes changed the back of my car's just started knocking like a whore house Maybe I should sell it. Fed up of the car now.
