Either that or go to a dealer armed with VIN and proof of ownership.
Sorry to hear that, the amount of times I've lost my keys and they've been
tidied by my wife!

One of those problems which you dont realise how much of an inconvenient expense this is till you lose keys yourself. But yeah from what i have read full lock set change probably some electrical stuff for the remote part also.

I always know exactly where my spare key is, and if I'm leaving the country I always take it with me and get one of our party to look after it. Could be extremely expensive to get the car recovered to the UK
Back to the OPs problem... The best thing to do is as Matt says: go to the dealers with the VIN and proof of ownership. They should be able to do you a new key for about £100. I imagine that'd be cheaper than a breakers yard would charge you for all the bits (locks+ecus) you'd need
Afterwards, if you've got a keypad immobiliser and know the code, get a non-electronic key cut.

can you get into the car?
you should be able to get any locksmith in to remove the lock (or do it yourself) and they should be able to cut a key based on the lock.
I had it done in the 205 wheni lost the keys for it at a racetrack and didn't realise till i drove the 6 hours home... Cost me 130 NZD (devide by 3 for pounds pretty much), that included 3 new keys, call out fee, recoding the fuel cap (it was a seperate key) to match the others... I didn't think that was too bad.
