hi all, 1st of all i have a 1.9 TD 406,

last few weeks ive noticed car is using about 1 litre of water, oil looks fine no signs of water mixing in there,

then other day when i was fitting my slpitter i noticed a dry white goo on the sump right next to the sump nut, the bottom of the engine is covered in this dry white goo stuff

does it sound expensive (might be my excuse to get rid and finally get 110 HDi)

thanks 8)

Check the bottom hose on the radiator near the drivers side wheel arch. My pipe and rad went and was leaking water from there. Ran back under the engine at speed and along the sump. Don't remember it leaving the white powder, but that could be because it's water oxidising an ally sump?

also just noticed, were the oil filter goes on the front of the engine, there is a little ledge along the engineacross to the fuel filter housing,
this ledge has water sat on it

I would start with checking the rad and hoses. That is what went on mine.

Also check around the thermostat housing for leaks, the seal goes very manky over time!

It's not generally a problem area.
