ES9J4 V6 Lumpy Idle

Hello folks,

My V6 is experiencing a lumpy idle at present, it doesn't miss when driving but has an occasional, light "shudder" on idle. Also, every now and again after a long or enthusiastic drive, the rev counter jumps all over the place. I though maybe coil pack could be causing both? Any suggestions? Car has done 70000 miles on original coil and HT leads.

I think you answered your own question there. Id start with changing the plugs first, then maybe the coil pack if the problem persists. Coolant temp sensor is also a suspect for a lumpy idle.

Lol, I know, just looking for other options. I changed the plugs about 2000miles ago, so I'll try the coil next, then the sensor.

First, check for oil in the spark plug wells  Another thing to look at is the ICV, which gets nice and gunky...

Other things of note when it comes to ES9J4 lumpiness are the IAT and CTS (the green one!)

When you changed your plugs, did you fit a new inlet manifold gasket?
