So, the misses D9 406 has thrown a hissy fit.

It was in the local garage for about 2 weeks getting a new power steering pump fitted (Took so long due to parts)

Got it back last week, filled up with Diesel (First click off) and then drove. The car has always smelt of diesel a dropped a little when full for the first 40-50 miles. (ie , 4-5 dots of diesel on the ground where its been parked) since it had a new intank pump/sendor 7-8 months ago

last friday the misses parked the car opposite the house and it caught my eye, it was litterally dripping out (like when you wash the car and water runs out the drains holes etc) it did stop after a but could see trails where she has been turning like its been overspilling out the top of the tank.

Took it back to the garage and they replaced the o-ring on the tank and commented on how the threads are knackered and it took them ages to get back in.

Picked the car up last night and it stunk of diesel, to be expected etc. Anyway, drove it, stopped, locked. Went shopping, unlocked, drove home. Stopped the engine and the MFD started beeping showing thee faults.

'Oil Pressure Insuffient'
'Battery Charging System Failure'
'ABS Fault'

it kept cycling through these errors etc. As soon as the engine started, it all stopped.

Now, im thinking, since the top of the intank pump has been covered in diesel (Since its leaking) has the diesel corroded the earth wire or something and the ECU is getting signals when the engine is not running, but the pump is telling the ecu it is, hence battery charge failure (ie, engine not turning over) low oil pressure, again no engine running, and abs fault, no ignition on to electric systems?

HELP!

Its going back tonight, so will probably need a new tank as the threads are bust!

Flippin heck Bruce! It does sound like an electrical fault but I'd reserve judgment until the garage have fixed the leak!

Flipping 'eck! that's not good. Your theory sounds valid to me, it has to be linked to the fuel leak surely?

Wonder why the leak suddenly got worse?

Hope you get on ok when you take the car back to them.

Its got worse due the intank sendor/pump threads have been butchered before the new one was fitted.

The that and the fact the o-ring is now contanstly saturated in Diesel wasnt helping its sealing properties (or lack off)

I wish we had our Laptop with el' cheapo ELM323 as it would point us in the right direction, but alas, the laptop Died!

Im wondering if its worth Resetting BSI? But cant see this helping anyway.

I think the garage will want to replace the fuel tank to resolve the leak (Dread to think how much this is going to cost...) yet alone, its got just under a FULL tank of diesel in (great fun draining that)

PAS pump, aux belt and tensions was just shy of £400! Another £150 for labour and o-ring. Plus a tank and labour, plus fault finding electric fault, still needs the crankshaft pulley doing... ah the joys. No point in stopping fixing it now as with a replacement VAG or Volvo diesel Estate we could run into more problems anyway... I think thats sensible although we both have thought, enough is enough.

It does 4 brand new Avon tyres, new front brakes (Discs and pads) new front coil springs, waterpump & timing belt replaced, recently serviced, PAS pump, intank pump... lol.

I dont understand how the garage arent sorting this under their own steam.... If you got the car back and its loaded with problems that werent there before you gave it to them then its something that they didnt do right. A lot of places like this go fiddling with wires not knowing whats going on. They're very complex these cars and I have a feeling they dont really know what they're doing by the looks of things.

I'd go into them and ask them straight out: "Tell me why this problem exists now and not before I gave you the car"

I agree with Eoin.

And, the longer you leave it before you take it back to them, the less likely it will be that they will accept responsibility for screwing up your car.

The car is with them now. Getting the fuel tank replaced.

Strangly & typically of electrical problems it's stopped with the errors.
