2001 hdi 110bhp engine problem

I had a sudden loss of power on the motorway and the engine light came on.I had no power then. Did it go in to boost mode? Turned the car off and turned it on again once I stopped. I pulled this code off it. Can anybody clarify the problem? I bought the car off my sister a few weeks ago and I had the timing belt changed, fan belt and a few bushings. My Dad owned it from new. Has 123000 on the clock now

Using a VAG tool on a pug?

What that means is there's been a problem with the little valve that causes the boost pressure to work the wastegate. It'll be a small thing somewhere under the bonnet with an electrical plug and (probably) three small pipes coming out of it. On the tubby it's mounted on the o/s strut mount next to the cambelt cover, but I have no idea about HDis... Hopefully someone else can enlighten you

You lost power because the ECU entered limp-home mode. That restricts the revs on some cars and effectively disables the turbocharger on cars fitted with them (eg. HDIs). Does the problem go away when you re-start the car?

Yea drove a lot of vags but I couldn't turn down the pug at the price she offered it to me for.

Problem goes away after turning car off.

Is there two of them ? One that works the EGR?

Edit - it does have a boost control valve 1233, and an EGR control electrovalve as well as the EGR itself.

Are they side by side?

dunno if they are mounted side by side but both electrovalves look the same in the parts blow-up's I have, havent looked at my car yet but will when I finish work mate.

Follow the tube from the vacuum pump on the rhs end of the head, it goes to both electrovalves, the egr itself, and the Pneumatic control capsule for the waste gate (on the turbocharger) thats all. (plus the brake servo of course) and the EV's look like this:

(23) electrical connector.

A:"user" outlet. (???)

B:pressure drop inlet for the vacuum pump.

C:white marking. (???)

D:atmospheric pressure inlet.

Would swapping them solve the problem? Peugeot or motor factors to get them? Also how much are they? Maybe I should change MAF too cause I was only getting 33mpg. It has a big service last week, belt pump engine mounting and exhaust

Got it sorted! Full boost now and 53 mpg! :D New air flow meter

Ok forget about the remap, my limp mode is back and a light on the dash. I thought a new MAF cured it. I wonder if it it the electro valves as above?? or worse the turbo? Limp mode went when i turned it off and and started the car again.

Also I'm not sure if this is the 110 hdi engine?

Are the two bosch valves expensive?

It won't be the turbo itself. I think you can swap the solenoids about to help find the problem, one does the EGR and the other the Turbo. There's another sensor atop the intercooler pipework (a small Denso one) it wouldn't hurt to change this really.

They were swapped last week when a new MAF was fitted. Does a vacume test tell if the turbo is ok??

So how much are the two solenoids and the small Denso one?

are you getting a buzzing sound from one of the selonoids ? if so that it the one that is kaput
the one on the left is for the egr the other is for the turbo
