Coolant leak :(

Hello,

Once upon a time... well, actually, every morning I am greeting by a damp patch by my car under the radiator area... Lovely..

Looking under the car I see where the coolant is leaking from.. ish...

This, as you can see, dampens up the whole of the engine undercover thing and the leak can sometimes be seen from anywhere along the edge of the cover..

I had my car serviced at a local Pug specialist dealer who said he couldn't find the leak in the radiator. So... where can the leak be coming from?! I was thinking one of the hoses, but looking inside the engine, I can see a damp patch right under the radiator. But how could the dealer not see it?

I keep topping up the coolant once a week now as it drops below the min level in the reservoir. Are there any vulnerable areas of the coolant path that I could easily check? On a sunny day I will probably get under the car and get undercover off to see if I can spot anything...

Any advice appreciated :)

Uhmmmmmm welllllll there was still a teeny leak from somewhere this morning, but I am hoping that it's simply the coolant that has accumulated on the engine undercover which is dripping. Will give it a few days, but if not then grrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Will have to crawl under the car when I get a few minutes and see where it's coming from.

For now Mr Niz, you can help me with a weird noise from the engine since you missed this one :P (see other thread)

hehe

Captain..... you say you still have a leaky perhaps ????

I wonder if you're water pump is leaking? it on that side of the engine. I don't know if water pumps make a noise aswell when there worn? could be the other problem you have all rolled into one?

Yes, you may be right. The leak seems to be coming from the front of the engine though. And it comes out on the side because my car is parked on a kerb so it slopes to the right :)

I will have a closer look when I get the chance, but I hope it's not the water pump as it will probably cost a lot more than I have to replace that...and cambelt!....

It has been 6 days since my last confession... er... I mean since my radiator got replaced, and I haven't seen any leaks coming from the engine any more! So hopefully, that's the end of it!!
