Only one cooling fan is coming on

the right hand fan goes flat out but the left one doesnt move, if i touch/wobble the left fan it will start to try and spin, when it does it only spins slow while the right one spins flat out, also when the A/C is on the fan or fans dont stay on constantly, they kick on and off like it would anyway. i took the front grill off to look at the relays and i have 3, i had a look at them and cant see anything wrong with them but i dunno what im looking for, which relay do i need to replace? as there is 3 and i dont know which are for what.

The relays aren't your problem. Your fan motor is most likely shot if the blades aren't rubbing on anything

well what would happen if it was the relays? also if the motor is broken will it mess it up the same way the relay does and only run one fan on high temp?

If it was a relay the fan wouldn't even try to spin. Duff fan or duff relay, the result would be the same - remaining fan pulsing on and off all the time.

Sounds just like mine when the brushes wore out on one of my fans, it'd spin if I gave it a push but otherwise zilch.

i looked on GSF and it lists a radiator motor for about £56 but it says 2.0 16v, no 8v on there, also thats not including vat

the motors arent too hard to change are they? the electrics just plug into the new motor doesnt it? no tricky wiring or anything

On Service Box the 2.0 16v has either 2 x 200 watt or 2 x 250s, the turbo needs the 250s, if it's the lower output one I'm not sure if that would give any issues when it runs them in series (apart from one fan running faster than the other). The real thing is 135 pounds and ninepence (but you get a nice shiny new fan with it too! )

Or you could get one from the scrappies...

John Foss's D8 fan change how to.

Btw the fan screw is a LEFT-HAND THREAD

I ran mine with only one fan for a year, didn't seem to do it any harm. You can get the fans out without removing the bumper, the rad shroud can be a bit of a pig.
