bought this car for spares as a non runner but as it was a nice day today so i decided to have a play.
charged up a battery bought 5 liters of diesel as red light was on,cranked it over and no joy.checked to see if i
have fuel in the fuel filter and its full ,took of a injector pipe and no fuel
so was thinking it could be a faulty stop solonoid, does this seam right? any ideas?
can the stop solonoid be bye passed?
or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Hi,
if its been standing for some time, you may need to prime the system as the fuel may have run back to the tank. Pump up the primer bulb with the key on. Slacken a couple of inj pipes, and crank engine untill fuel shows.Tighten inj pipes and it should start.

Nuffield

^ Quite correct ^
But if the stop solenoid has gone, it will need a straight replacement. About 50 squids from a Perjoe stealer last time I asked.

is the solonoid on the back of the pump protected by shear bolts or is it onthe top under the diaphram looking thing?

It's under the metal cover i'm afraid, you'll need to apply 2 or 3 thick coats of violence to remove it.

the other thing is to check the suction pipe in tank hasnt got gauze mesh on end blocked with gunk(this is cheap fix ... nothing except time)
lift back seat/ remove plastic bung /grommet
undo in & outpipes and sender unit plug
gently tap ring nut?/holder (flat head screwdriver)remove to one side and lift sender unit out
check bottom of inlet pipe mesh is not blocked with gunk, if so clean and check inb tank for same
put back in and refit bits (prob require clips for pipes as pug originals dont come off well )
pump primer bulb and if it pumps up hard then prob fixed
(BTW a test of blockage is primer bulb squashing and not regaining shape)
no cost but took about 20 mins first time ever done
logical testing procedure before spending money and wasting time .
Good luck

But is the stop solinoid broke or is the immoboliser not disarming?
Put a live straight to the stop solinoid and see if it starts
