hello
i am newbie in pugs
i want to go with turbo on my xu9 and i am afraid of blowing the engine there for i needed to use turbo diesel rod or even pistons
now i have a question
is there any one to have exprience use this combo on non diesel engines?
i decide to use a xu9 crank with turbo diesel rod and pistons from a xud9 406

welcome to every idea could help me
i think standard piston and rod are weak to handle the boost
any exprience??!!

thanks for your help

Hi there, welcome.
I'm afraid I've got no experience with such things but I have a couple of thorts:

Wouldn't the standard piston be too high pressure? Or doesn't it work like that with TDs?

Looking at the parts diags the block seems to be the same but crank upwards is different, so presumably wouldn't last. Wouldn't it be easiest to just stuff a TD lump in there?

So now you want to use petrol rods in a diesel engine? I'd have thought they wouldn't be strong enough. You could have a Google for the dimensions for them to see if they'd physically fit but, unless you're hoping for a hoooge power increase I can't see why you'd want to go this way.

A non-turbo diesel engine runs a higher compression ratio than a Turbo'd one so adding a turbo won't work unless you change the rods and pistons so you might aswell just source a proper TD engine, they're cheap enough now aren't they?

I'm a bit confused as to whether he wants to build a stong petrol turbo or a diesel? you wouldn't want diesel parts in a petrol as they're to heavy - the thing would self destruct.

All my points entirely :cheesy:

He wants to build a turbo petrol engine and is asking if diesel turbo parts would fit, figuring they would be strong enough to withstand the boost.

Better place to ask is the 306 forums :)
