which engine oil is best for my HDI?

hI there,

Anyone know which engine oil to recommend to use in my 2.0 HDI 110bhp 'W' Reg please.....not really sure whats good for it.
Also how often to normally change the engine oil ??

It says in the owners handbook. I totally forget what the best oil is despite owning two HDi's in the past :oops: The HDi's are anything but fussy in that department.

And if you want to keep it running sweet, i recommend doing an oil change every 5-6k miles.

I use a 10/40 semi synthetic in mine, its a 2000 w reg 90 hdi, changed every 6k until recently, its being left to die now, i think the handbook says every 12k but not sure as like everybody else i never got a handbook with mine either.

Ditto.

Mine gets done at 6k, but it all depends on what you want to pay for oil.

I can get 10/40 semi from the local VX independent for around £12 a gallon. I used to be able to get Shell Helix free gratis, but that door has closed now. :(

A good quality 10/40 semi-syn wins the day.

I used to change my oil every 12 months having covered about 7/8K. There seems little merit in changing the oil more frequently at low-ish mileages like this.
