3.0 v6 purge valve

hi new to the forum so hope this is the correct place to post as not sure wether this is to do with engine or electrical, i think ive narrowed my problems with my car down to the purge valve but i cant see it causing so much problems, its a 3.0 v6 on a 98, basically when driving along i get a jerking when trying to cruise, sometimes not so bad and others its really bad, although letting off the throttle or slightly accelerating will stop it for a while, ive used a code reader and the purge valve solenoid circuit code always comes up, im guessing as its unplugged, i have found a brown plug near the ecu unplugged but cannot find anything to plug it into, so does anyone know what that plug is or have a photo of a purge valve so i can find it? or if you have any idea what the real problem is that would be better, thanks chris
