hdi intank fuel pump

hi guys i have a hdi 110 x reg havin a few problems with it as u know by my other posts but just been thinkin about the preignition and all that could this be caused by the intank fuel pump not sucking the diesel back to the tank once the ignition is off it eventually cuts out after like 5 seconds or could this be caused by a dodgy fuel pressure sensor

AFAIK the lift pump just does what the name suggests & feeds the HP pump, which provides the pressure for everything else including returning any excess to the tank.

a think its the wrong intank pump in my car everything is bosch but for some reason the pump isnt bosch accordin to ebay the bosch pump is the white coloured one could this be causing wrong pressure readings if its the wrong pump

So you turn off the ignition and the engine still runs for a bit? if so then it sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. This part is supposed to slam shut and return the fuel to the tank but gets sticky over time.

Have a looky around on this site, I've seen your problem on there before and I'm sure the remedy is to slosh-in a litre of clean engine oil into the tank of diesel.........

well its the right pump for my car peugeot said its VDO type that goes in the tank strange really i thought it would have been all bosch

thanks wil have a look on that site ust need to find out why its taking its time to start

If your engine still runs after you turn off, it's probably running on lubricant rather than diesel. Can't see how a common rail diesel is going to inject anything without the ECU & HP pump joining in.....

Leaky turbo oil seals, maybe?

How's the oil consumption?

There can be a problem Doggy with the fuel pressure regulator being slow to 'release' the high pressure in the rail leading to the engine running-on briefly. Having said that the OP now say's it's the starting that's at fault

Dare say you're right, Welly, but I couldn't see how the fuel would get into the cylinders without the ECU 'firing' the injectors, whatever the fuel rail pressure. Fair point though, I've definetely told you more than I know already.

if its the turbo seals would i need to replace turbo or just the seals
