FUEL FILTER HOUSING???

hi guys,

i have an x reg 2l hdi turbo diesel 406, with 113,000 miles on the clock.

having located a strange buzzing/whirring noise/vibration problem in my engine bay, the noise is coming from the FUEL FILTER HOUSING. so i brought a new filter thinking that would cure it. having replace that, it's still doing the same thing.

i've taken it apart again and it turns out there's a strange valve type thingy in the bottom of the housing. this airway is blocked, it seems stuck and i'm thinking this is the problem. all the other airways are fine. it is a bosch system that i have. is this normal, as i'm looking to buy a new housing unit.

the housing i need is a Bosch OEM 190169. i've found these for around £50. does anyone know where i can get one cheaper? i'm looking for a new one as i don't want anymore problems.

if anyone could help, i'd be very grateful, thanks again guys, always a pleasure. Dan

Knowing what engine you have could help us.

That filter housing brings up an HDi, looks like the middle one with the hexagon on the top.

I had a squint but I can't find anything less than the evilbay 49 quid ones, even the German ones for 60€ work out a gnat's tadger under 50 quid :(

I replaced mine because the wrong one was on (3 port Siemens instead of 2 port)

Incorrectly bought a Bosch for £49 (though returned and refunded).

They couldn't find the 2 port Siemens to I ended up getting one from the Stealers for about £70, and a "scrap" one as a spare for £15.

Essential as any air getting in here will impede starting and running.

It was very easy to stall / cut out for example when coming out of a parking space or pulling away gently from the lights. Too much air and not enough diesel.
