Probs with fanbelt - followed advice on here - excellent - however need to know following please; took tensioner off, all seems ok but there is a hex bolt with some (Now mangled) rubber round it - anyone know what i need to ask local autofactors for - new tensioner doesn't come with one, it's at the back of the square hole where you put the drive bit to ease off tension, screws in with hex head going into block - looks like it may go to the spring - local stealer has a 12 year old divvy in parts department trying to flog me all sorts, cheers

Many thanx
Gaz

Peeps would need a little more info from you to be able to help I think?
If you have your chassis number we can look it up on servicebox for you if you havent got access to it for the pointer to what you would need

Soz mate...

1996 1.9TD Executive

Easiest thing would be to describe what is happening...

God awful rattle on tickover, had a shufties behind drivers wheel, belt wobbling like buggery between aircon and crank pulley, decided to have auto tensioner off - followed instructions from here - doddle - now, auto tensioner looks new as does wheel, however, if you look at the rear of the tensioner housing there is the small hole to stick the allen key to lock it off, the big hole where the 19mm bolt goes through to bolt it to the bracket at the back of the altenator (??) - now, if you look where the square hole is on the front, directly behind this on the rear of the tensioner there is a threaded hole, about 6mm - my tensioner has a bolt with a hex head on it that screws in there, it has rubber/plastic (looks a bit like a stopper/damper) block that runs the length of said bolt - took the lot to Sutton Auto's, bloke got new tensioner out - has the threaded hole but no bolt - guy advised to go to stealer, unfortunately got the 12 year old EMO YTS kid, he decided to order 5 different parts as didn't know what to order, none looked like the bit I want so hoping someone on here knows

Hope this helps a wee bit

Bristol Street Motors in Worksop have ordered a few bits and bobs off servicebox, though I doubt they will be right as I looked at the diagram and none seemed to have a bolt with a rubber stopper/grommit/thingy me bob on it - was wondering if it was more to do with the spring than the tensioner?

Cheers anyway mate but hopefully sorted

Nope, none of the 5 parts ordered were the right ones - are you on about the bolt or the tensioner m8? The tensioner is this one - http://www.aepdirect.com/index.php?opti ... ct_id=6508

The threaded bit is on the left as we look at it next to the bit with the grey plastic cover on it
