Hi, I am thinking of investing in a code reader as now I will have plenty of faults stored due to diagnostics I have performed.
I however am unsure if my car, a 2001 406 with the 3.0 V6 engine (version 8 XFX) is compatible with any code readers.
I have looked through this forum and noted that Peugeots use the KWP2000 protocol and am interested in purchasing an Autel Maxiscan MS509 for a reasonble price.
I have choose this model as it should be compatible for my dads car and our kids.

Any help on this is greatly appreiciated.

Thanks

You need the lexia kit, something like this.
Note that it needs a WinXP laptop to run, nothing newer will work!

Thanks, thats a great help.
All these code readers to be honest baffle me but seem perfect sense as a diagnostic from the stealers is quite steep.
Just a shame they dont work on Vista or Windows 7 but ah well.

Thanks again.

I guess you could run a multiboot, I want to get one of these kits when funds allow so I'll probably run that sort of setup.
