I have just had a new clutch fitted at about 81,000 miles but i notice that the pedal is now much weaker than what I would expected to find. Normally on new cars, or thoses with a clutch change, the pedal is quite stiff to operate.
Is this a normal experience on 406's 1.9TD (1997)?

Looking for another 406
Re: New clutch fitted but pedal is now very weak
Actually, the reverse is true, with a new clutch the pedal should be nice and light with the biting point nearer to the floor.
On the models with the "pull" type arrangement, the clutch biting point being close to the floor can cause poor gear selection until the clutch wears in a few miles.

Thanks Jasper
As it is my first clutch change on a 406, I was not sure as on other cars the clutch has always been much stronger.
I had hoped that in ths case I was wrong, so thanks for confirming it.
