Post by modified406 »

hi guys my hdi 110 x reg can be hard to start if drove for quite a bit if i stop it then go bk in and try to start it it doesnt start with cranking it but starts with a bump start also it cuts out once in a blue moon the intank fuel pump is working as u can hear it starting up for 10 seconds so i dont think its down to the intank fuel pump also it has a lumpy idle sometimes other times it could be fine any ideas what this could be

It's probably in the ECU box, although on later cars it's part of the ECU...

Sounds like a good starting point anyway.

It should be in the same box. Take the lid off and have a squint.

Strange buzzing? Does it buzz all the time? Mine makes all sorts of noises from the climate but stops when the engine's running. Or maybe I just can't hear it over my injectors :(

Service Box says fifteen pounds and forty-three pence.

#2 here, it's the only thing other than the ecu in the box.

well bought the relay today hasnt made any difference but i dont know if its solved the cutting out problem

any other ideas what could be causing the starting problem heres a list of what i have changed so far so you guys know
air flow meter
intank fuel pump
intercooler boost sensor
fuel rail sensor
fuel filter housing

the only other 2 sensors i havent changed is crankshaft sensor and cam sensor could any of these cause the starting problem it starts no problem in the morning but after a drive for about 6 miles it has to be bump started its really annoying me now i will need to get this fixed fur the start of october as the mot is due

Could it be something to do with the heat? I'm thinking water temp sensor and fuel temp sensor (11 & 12), not sure if you should continue changing stuff though, any chance of some real diagnostics?

My other thought is freezing spray. Get the engine hot, stop it, spray suspect components and try starting it.

fixing your car by quesswork can be very expensive indeed and cost you , your money and valuable time.my suggestion is to look for someone with dealer level diagnostics tools and check for any possible errors stored on the ecu or have live data checked on the car.this will eliminate and streamline the possiple cause of the problems as this will frustrate you more and more by fixing your car on the fly.
