Hi all Pug 406 90 BHP '51 plate estate 64000 miles FPSH
Can it be chipped to 10 BHP?
Also on deceleration particularly in 2nd /3rd gear theres a whining noise, bit like a wheel bearing? Any ideas what it might be?
Cheers for any advice i advance.

You can have the ECU Remapped to add about 30bhp to it for about ?300 from

A tuning box will elevate it to 110 levels of thrust, or slightly beyond.

Other than the burble of a well fettled motor, you shouldn't have any whining on the overrun - try de clutching and if the sound vanishes it''s transmission related. If it doesn't then it could be the turbo, but an HDi turbo should be virtually inaudible, even on max boooossssssttttttttt.....
Bear in mind that your car is now due a cam belt by dint of age, so the whining could be the precursor of something serious if it hasn't already been done. If you do get a new belt, remember to fit new rollers and you're supposed to fit a new bottom pulley, though if the old one isn't noisy and passes a visual inspection it's probably ok. Use genuine pug or sh1truin parts, but get an independant to do the deed as the pug stealers want ?600+ for this job in some instances!
