Does sound as though the battery is flat, check the auxilliary belt is ok for starters, also check your voltage across the battery. Can you get a jump start off anyone?
I've not known a cambelt go on one of these but I guess there is a first time!

if it just clicks it could be the starter moter stuck you could try putting the car in gear and rocking it,but to be honest i dont see how this could have happened while you driving.
whats your location? as someone near to you might be able to help.

Broken engine earth, causing dead battery and inability to run starter/coil?

Hit a pot hole in the road and tripped the emergency cut-off valve?

I haven't got one but I thought they didn't stop the starter motor spinning :?

try tapping on starter solenoid with jack handle or simmilar bar possibly the solenoid stuck , do the dash lights go dim or flicker when ya turn the key ? put ignition on and flick main beam to test if battery is ok , lock the car and un lock it a few times from passanger side front doorincase immobiliser has kicked in , from the clicking you describe sounds like starter jammed or battery problem , good luck .

Alternatively, maybe the engine just siezed. That would explain it stopping instantly and then just clicking when trying to turn it over. Can you get a socket/spanner on the cam or crank bolt and turn it manually? Have you tried jumping it from another car? What's the voltage reading across the battery terminals (you'll need a multimeter for this)?
