When started from cold it will miss quite badly for a few minutes, then as it warms up it seems to be okay, then when its at running temp under boost it hesitates and holds back a little, when hot it will miss slightly on idle but only just noticeably.
I replaced the plugs, leads, checked for air leaks etc. Im thinking coil pack? when i changed the leads it seemed okay for a day or so. failing that im thinking fuel pump (changed filter) or map sensor maybe. on its test the c0 was on the limit.

8 valve turbo stutter on boost
98, Executive turbo estate in aluminum silver. The stealth wagon! Now departed, New project Xsara VTR-8 in progress, Next Project, 406 D8 / JAP. So will be looking for a 406 again when the xsara is done!

I'd suggest your CTS could be iffy. Not easy to get to though :/
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: 8 valve turbo stutter on boost
Have a check of the ignition lead for cylinder no.3 (I think), its the lowest furthest back one on the coilpack. On my car this lead is so close to the brake servo that when the engine moves around it actually pulls the lead off!
Definitely worth a check.

Re: 8 valve turbo stutter on boost
I think ive got to the bottom of this now, it seems that when the previous owner replaced the battery it was changed for the Ford lug type, which had the normal poles pressed onto them. As i was leaving work yesterday i got about 200 yards down the road before it started missing and lurching then seemed to clear itself before i got a petrol station. for some reason i checked the battery leads and found the positive terminal tightly screwed to the pole, but the pole just resting on the top of the original Ford terminal, bashed it back on till i could get home and no more missfire
