air con help plz

hi all i have a pug 406 2.0 hdi my air con pulley is making an awfull noise, so my question is do u get replacement pulleys for the air con or is it the case of buying a new unit or does onyone on here have one going spare i have money to pay for it np
also one other thing can u do away with the air con and buy a belt for a normal hdi without air con and fit the belt bypassing the air con or am i way of on that one just a thought

I bought a s/h compressor for mine about 18 months ago & never used it. Still about somewhere, (I think).
