as some of you may know my diesel lx 406 is dead so i replaced it with the 2.0 16v glx model instead, now in the 406 the engine only has 132 bhp
yet the 206 gti with the same RFV engine has 138bhp, would changing the ecu for a 206 one gain the 6 bhp that has gone missing?

Never say never, but I think it's doubtful. Different cams, different part numbers for the heads (so i'd assume they're different too), different inlet plenum, different throttle body. Even if the car starts & runs, the map is liable to be entirely unsuitable for the heavier car.
