HDi 110 clutch issue ?
Hi all, new member here.
Just bought a 1999 EXECUTIVE HDI (110) ESTATE and so far very happy with it.
The seller told us there was a very high bite point on the clutch peddle which I don't find a problem but my partner does as she only has little legs.
I ordered a CD workshop manual today and plan to do a cambelt change and full service but meantime am wondering if this has a cable clutch or hydraulic?
If it's cable is it an adjustment issue or a clutch on the way out?
Just did a search and saw comments about a dual mass flywheel, do I have one? is it problematic when changing the clutch? or does it take the place of a clutch? - sorry for my ignorance here but I've never heard of a dual mass flywheel.

The electricaly adjustable mirrors worked yesterday but this morning have gone on strike, would this be a fuse problem? any ideas where the fuse is?

The clutch is hydraulic, they all bite high so it's not necessarily on its way out so, unless you can prove it's on it's last legs by forcing it to slip, changing it probably won't help.
It's got a DMF, they don't normally give problems but should be changed with the clutch. Lots of "modern" diesels have them.
If the mirror fuse is ok try fiddling with the switches.

Greetings and well done for choosing such an exellent car.
Yes, it does have a hydraulic clutch. The peddle will bite at the top of its travel, this is the way they are. Not ideal for the shorter person.
The dual mass flywheel is part of the clutch system. It is a way of soaking up some of the vibrations from the engine and giving a smoother power delivery. You can ignore its existance untill the clutch goes. Then you have two options.
1. Do what most of us do and convert it into a solid flywheel and save a couple of hundred quid.
2. Fit a new dual mass flywheel with the clutch and expect to pay roughly £900 to £1,000.
My HDI110 estate did 210,000 on its original clutch and I have just paid £780 to have it changed. priced the parts myself and they are about £500. Euro car parts is a good site for part prices and some quite good descriptions of what they do. Try putting your reg into the box, and it will tell you what car you have.

So, one question answered and as is the way of these things it begs another, can I adjust the height of the clutch peddle for my wee furry mate to make it easier for her to drive it? or do I have to remove it and "modify" it?
Might be simpler to fit a block under her shoe
Can you please point me to the fuse for the lecky mirror adjuster?

I would also recomend the purchase of a Haynes manual. Known on here as Haynes book of lies (hbol) but it does give you a good starting point.

I like to peruse them on the pc then just print out the relevant pages when working on something, so I don't get the manual covered in greasy thumbprints.

If the bite point is so high that you can slip the clutch by just resting your foot on the pedal, you're about to need a new clutch

I don't think it's that bad, it doesn't seem to slip. Just wondering if it's got much life left in it, but might as well forget it until it starts slipping and just see if I can get it comfy for my partner as she drives it mostly.
