Mass air flow meter

To be truthfull I cannot remember if I have posted this or not. Night shift stops my brain working. Anyway I have had a bit of a problem with the power on my 406 HDI. It seemed to be having a flat spot when I put my foot down and when I had the caravan on the power was just not there. After reading around this forum and other places I got to the point where I thought the mass air flow meter was not working right. Everything else was ok and fuel consumption was ok. When I removed the one on the car and looked inside I could see that the sensor was still there but just below it was two very small silver goalpost shape things and one of these was broke. I did what people used to do in the old days and that was to give it a good tap on a hard surface. I Replaced it and guess what...the power was back to normal. I went on Ebay and got one for £23, new they are around £80 I think. Put that one on and its ok so now I am back to having full power. Just a bit of info for anyone who might be having a similar problem. cheers
