Hi there James.

I'm afraid that's probably the motor for the recirculation flap which has stripped the teeth. 4 options - dealers (you won't believe how expensive they are :( ) breakers, find someone with a machine shop to make you a new one out of brass or pull the flap open manually, disconnect the motor and forget you ever had one.

I think you should be able to see the flap if you take out the pollen filter, getting to the motor requires you to remove the glove box.

he said noiose by the screen washer

dunno about his, or yours, but my glove box is as far away from the screen wash bottle as you can get without being in the boot.

Ah crap

I assumed that meant the left hand end of the dash by the nozzle, not looking under the bonnet by the bottle.

Stop taking your car to bits James!

Btw on mine the flap's on the right of the dash.

It'll probably be the little brown valve attached to the ECU box if it ticks with the engine off. It maintains air pressure in the fuel tank so the fuel pump doesn't end up fighting against a vacuum

Hoping it's with the engine off, as the purge valve is an almost dead cert. Could be anything if it's engine related though. My old tubby had an evil ticking injector 3... took me ages to figure it out... It could be something not so harmless though, like an idler bearing or something I guess
