glowplug fitting

am wanting to replace my glowplugs as starting is getting tedious , having to use "SORNED" 306 Dturbo to jumpstart 406 ( XUD9TE engine ) .
Dturbo starts first time every time ( even though its been sitting there for several months and no diesel in tank with the bio even at -6 C !! )
OK , the question : have been advised that doing this is best done on warm/hot engine rather than cold , is this true ? is it easier ?(my first attempt) and 10mm deep socket required ?

I recently got mine done by a garage, the injection pump needs moving to make it easier to get to 1 of the glowplugs.

You need a 12mm deep socket (I use 3/8 drive), an 8mm socket and spanner and a longish 12mm spanner.Sometimes the small nuts are 7mm.
Soak the threads of the plugs as long as you can in WD40 or penetrating oil.
There is no need to move the injection pump but it will be difficult to get at the one behind the pump, I sometimes take off the small hose that might be in the way.
When you take off the small nuts try to not drop them so that you have spares in case you drop any fitting the new ones (a magnet might come in handy, ref, Steve Earwig).
Good luck with the job, it should take a couple of hours due to the difficult to get at plug behind the injection pump.

Would only matter if engine warm/cold if the glowplugs were rusted in, and warm engine would help them come out if rusted in.

To make the plugs behind the pump very easy, just take out the two injector feed lines for the two injectors. Hour long awkward bastard job turns into a 5 minute fiddle.

I just thought it was common sense not to be working on a warm/hot engine.
