Waterpump and thermostat on a 19.HDI 1996

Hi Guys
think my water pump has died or the thermostat is stuck shut as i get overheating now
anyone got a pic that show where these are, its pitch black outside

sorry idont have any pics,
have you checked for air/locks ?
if not try bleeding the pipes

ok is it a 1996 1.9 ?? your title is a little confusing as there wasnt a HDi in 1996 car
possibly the thermostat, its worth doing 1st as its only about 8 quid,
make sure you buy some anti freeze to top it back up, get about 3 litres wen u buy thermostat
and make sure you bleed the system ,, its very easy so dont get worried
heres a picture for you if it is 1.9 just remove the 3 bolts and it sits under the fuel filter

What's the weather like? Any chance the radiator's frozen?

weather is arctic, not impossible, but i can feel water in the bottom hose, how do you bleed it, is there a bleed nipple ?

bleed nipples here, but once you have topped up the coolant leave the coolant cap off the main housing and press the pipes around the radiotor gently , you will see all the air come out you can also feel it in the pipes. keep pressing for a good few minutes
are you sure your pipes havnt frozen as ste said, have you definately got anti freeze in the system

cheers mate, i'll give it a go. can squash all the pipes so dont think there frozen, drained the system and put new anti freeze in, willl have a bash tonight
if not its headed for the scrapyard in the sky lol, got x2 to go there one just wont drive right crabs to bits another 1.9TD P reg, And this exec one grrrr

in sunderland mate, normally i wouldnt but got 5 cars here lol and can do without the chew
