Is it just me or are D8 wiper arms designed so that you cant raise them off the screen? (most cars you can bend the arms so that you can clean & polish the screen) but my bonnet seems to be in the way and i cant raise the wiper arms any more than a few inches from the screen.

Can anyone help please?

No, that's right. One of the 406's more stupid features  It's not even easy to take the arms off.

This also means that you can't fit a normal wiper clip to the end of the arm, because normal wiper clips require you to move the arm back in order to push the wiper on. This has caused me confusion on more than one occasion.

Exactly what was the logic behind this feature, its like putting a door stop in place to allow the door just to move about an inch, is there any safety bullshit the thing not moving up complies with.

Possible reason: if you could pull them up then, when in their resting position at the bottom of the screen, the arm would catch on the edge of the bonnet. Wouldn't it?

they should have copied the mercedes w124s centrally mounted single wiper with a cam for doing a full square wipe, the best system i ever seen for cleaning the windscreen, the worst wipers are the ones mounted to the corners of the a pillars like on the ugly duckling seat leon they leave a big triangle in the middle untouched.
