Ive noticed recently this small problem, and im not totally sure whats causing it/what it is

Basicly while im slowing down to a junction/slowing the car down to a stop after a put the clutch in the lights will dim, (not alot) but enough to notice, the engine doesnt stall/cutout but i am starting to get a little squeak from the fan belt so I know that will need changing soon

The two things couldnt be related at all could they?

thanks in advance

Matt

possibly it could, as the engine slows down the belt does as well, so if its slipping bad it may not be charging enuff

look into changing the fan belts pully tensioner as well , probably worth it why your changing belt,

Nah, it's a quirk courtesy of alternators.

some altenators have regulators to stop that happening

It's a trade-off, they don't spin at a constant speed and if they generate enough current at idle they'll be frying at full revs, regulator or not.

in general if a car displays the battery light i assume that means the altenator is done. But what if the car or jeep in question doesnt seem to ever run the battery down.
