Know nothing bout cats(car kind), know for fact that my cat gone on 2l hdi110 (garage emptied bits out back box 4 times).
1. Does mot for diesels pick up bust cats?
2. Can i just leave it there as its collapsed anyway(no bits left in system)?
3. If i remove it will i need to fit new cat for mot?
4. Do cats really make that much difference on a diesel anyway?
Cheers.

As far as I know Diesels don't need a Cat for MOT purposes as the MoT for diesels currently only checks for smoke, unlike the petrol engine test it doesn't check levels of HC, NOx etc.
Taken from VOSA:
Exhaust System
Complete, secure, without serious leaks and silences effectively.
Diesel Engined Vehicles
Vehicles to be tested
This inspection applies to all diesel engined vehicles with four or more wheels.
The smoke test to which a vehicle is subject will depend upon its date of first use (i.e. date of registration) as follows:
Visual smoke test
For all private cars and light goods vehicles up to and including 3500kg design gross weight first used before 1 August 1979, a visual test will be carried out.
Metered smoke test
For all private cars and light goods vehicles up to 3500kg design gross weight first used on or after 1 August 1979, and for all heavy goods vehicles and large passenger vehicles, a metered smoke test will be carried out.
