Hi,

I have been looking at replacing the EGR as it is leaking, when i was looking around it i noticed some black stuff on the surrounding wires/metal work, does anybody know what might be leaking (please See pictures below?

Or is it caused by the leaking EGR valve?

Many Thanks

Andy

NB is ?70 a reasonably price for a replacement EGR

I wouldn't have thought the egr could leak oil. it seats between air inlet and exhust, with out any oil supply. I'd leak for oil leaks from other places e.g. rocker cover that could be running down to it.

Someone could have split a "little" oil when filling it, the egr is on the right corner of the engine for that.

Hi,

Any ideas where the oild/black stuff may be coming from. I cannot see any part of the engine that could leak oil there.

All that is there is the EGR Valvue and nothing else, i wonder if the black stuff is a build up os soot from the leaking EGR valve after all i have no idea how long it has been leaking.

I reckon the leak is from elsewhere and seeping down. due to the heat at the EGR, any weeops tend to be sooty in nature.

Do what I did and blank the damn thing off - they're a pain.
