hi mate
im not 100% on this but id asume the spark plugs wouid be under the coilpacks,
as yours is over a 2.0 id presume its a 5 cyl jobbie so shouid be 5 coil packs in total, (icouid be wrong tho )
when you took the top cover off did you not notice any square ish lookin things on top of the rocker cover ?
normaly coil packs are held in place with a 8 or 10mm bolt undue this unplug and lift out the coil pack then you can get access to the "spark plug"
can anyone else confirm this

The 2.2 litre petrol engine (EW12 J4) is a 4-cylinder engine, it just has a larger cylinder size than the 2.0 litre.
As for coil packs, I've no idea about them either. I've never taken the cover off my engine myself, or changed the spark plugs myself. It's not something I feel comfortable doing, so it gets done at the garage, along with the filter changes and oil changes (though I have swapped my air filter myself).

If you take off the plastic
engine cover you'll find the coil pack between the camshaft covers. It has what look like wax squares on the top and runs the whole length of the engine, should make sense when you see it! Its held on by eight mm bolts, undo these and the multi plug at the right hand end and it will pull off upwards.
