On the HDi used to have to give it about 1500-2000 rpm to stop the feeling it was about to stall. Made it wheelspin in the wet and ice.
With the engine mount fixed it can take away without acceleration, have to get used to that again, so I would say you would be right, 1000-1100 rpm or so on level ground.
I hate hillstarts too

Worked out £100 a mount including the part. Those for uppers. Lower mount would be £££s as the driveshaft has to come out.

There are set rules for the correct engaging-the-clutch-in-first manoeuvre.........
Man:
Match the revs sympathetically to the load, incline and conditions without stalling and without slipping the clutch excessively and without creating an uncomfortable 'snatching' sensation as the drive train takes up the load.
Woman:
Approx 4000 revs.

or 6500 in snow

Never really looked at the revs when setting off, as for hills I regularly have to stop on a 1 in 6 hill at some lights if Im in pole position the wheels spin like a bugger as the tarmac is well worn

6000 minimum.

more on petrols.
More seriously, I never really look at revs either but tend to take up the drive a little before applying any 'loud' pedal.
