Bit the bullet. Timing belt, water pump etc

Did the deed today! I started to get the old death rattle from the crankshaft pulley a couple of weeks ago. I have done a few timing belts in the past (Mondeo, Nissan etc) and a few Pug pulleys, but never the full monty on my own car! Using the gen from this site helped. Crank Pulley bolt was the worst I've ever had to do. Original Pug job. In the end used the Jasper technique and success!( I snapped a well known make 22mm ring spanner, big one with a long tube for leverage, before it worked! A £700, well known battery gun wrench also failed)
So, new water pump, timing belt and pulleys, auxiliary belt, radiator flush, crank pulley and bolt, and some very fresh language in parts!
After all that grief the rest went well. Locking tools (draper) worked fine and well chuffed at the end result. Belt tension judged by hand and Jaspers comments!
Started almost first touch and settled nicely.
I started to get grief from the brake warning light, but that turned out to be the wire from one of the pads rubbing against the inside of the wheel down through the insulation to earth out. This was because I had to splice the wires when I fitted new discs and pads as the wires were too short! I obviously made them too long!!
All bits £145.00 approx. Europarts for most, pug for pulley bolt at £2.
You can't beat a good web site!
I also run a 2.3 Ford Galaxy and the Galaxy O.C. site is a must for anyone who has one of those. FGOC WORTH A LOOK!
Mark.
