406 2.0 HDi - Leftover plug and pipe for HG change.

Hi,

Just like to pick all your brains please!

After recently doing a head gasket change with my Dad on his 406 HDi and leaving him to put the last few bits on and back together, we are left with only 2 odd bits.

We are left with a washer type hose coming from the back of the bulkhead, looks like it may go down towards the back of the engine - as a guess, is it for the turbo actuator?
And one plug at the front of the engine, near the radiator - it's part of the main loom, whether this helps of not?

I will take some pics tomorrow to show the problem bits, but I thought I'd get my topic up and running first after stumbling across this helpful site!

Thanks

Chaz

Hi there!

Umm, the pipe probably is for the turbo, there should be one coming from one of the vacuum solenoids on the bulkhead.

Does the plug look like this:

It's just hanging loose on mine, I think it's for the water in fuel detector which mine lacks.

On my car that wire goes to the fuel rail pressure sensor....the yellow plug normally clips to that broken plastic clip just up to the right.

It's not connected to anything on mine, it was just dangling until I cable-tied it to the remains of said clip

Having looked at Autodata the fuel pressure sensor shows three wires...so it may be something else. On my car 2.0HDi it was the sensor and because it was loose it kept cutting the engine out. If it was dry out side I`d have a look...but its raining . What problem is it causing?

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt and helpful replies.
Here are the offending articles!

It's the pipe coming from the bulkhead and I've got it laying over near the oil cap - just for ease or visibility.

The yellow plug with extension on, ending up with a red plug - front of engine, coming off of loom... and yes, the oil filter will be changed :cheesy:

Thanks!

the pipe looks like its for eather the turbo actuator or the egr valve, and i think the red plug is for the filter housing on the bottom of it.

I've not had time to look at it yet, but will at the weekend.

I don't quite understand what didn't make sense.
Above each picture was a description of the article I need help with..

But then again, maybe the 'smoke' does things to your mind that normal people can comprehend.

Cheers.
