Is the quality of a new exhaust important on a Diesel?

I know that certain petrols like Honda and BMW do not respond well to some aftermarket Kwik Fit exhaust fitments and are better fitted with OE exhausts.
I've been quoted £80.00 for a new centre section and it will be a Bosal system.
Thing is, has anyone else had experience with the HDi exhaust system, I'd rather spend an extra few bob on an OE system if it will be better?
PLEASE DO NOT suggest a Powerflow system or I will scream.
Cheers

I would get a custom fit stainless steel 1 m8. Its about £360 for cat back or £160 for backbox, I doubt it would be much for just the centre section. Get it done it stages as things go wrong is what I'm looking at doing. Gonna get a new backbox soon from AAS, may even get a de-cat for £120.

I know stainless will last longer but is more expensive, but what I want to know is whether the OE system that the factory used would have better gas flow than a Bosal system from a zorst place?
I know Bosal do make most of the exhausts for new cars anyway but they have two ranges, an OE range and an Aftermarket (value for money) range.

i get the stanadrad bosal one, £80 is fair price, mine cost about £90 a year ago. if you get a cheap middle section they don't always fit well and can cause the exchust to hang low and ground on speed hump etc. I would expect the pipe to two pipes be very smiliar in size, the aftermarket one might be made of a lower quality metal.
I am guessing your replacing it because has rusted at the mount point by the rear "axle"?

I got a Bosal Mid-section and Back box for my 406 HDI 110 three months back from
http://www.leisureshack.co.uk and it cost me £140 for the Pair, Peugeot quoted me £250 for the pair. It fitted pretty nicely and I've had no problems and no noticable change in power etc. The only thing I'd recommend is get the brackets from Peugeot, as the ones that came with my Bosal exhause were rubbish!

Welts, the genuine Peugeot centre section is only £98 including new clamps and its very easy to fit yourself (without jacking the car up).
The quality will be much better and will last alot longer.

If you're zorst is kacked, then follow the tl route to exhaust nirvana.
Buy a new pug pipe set. Take it to a quality welder/metal fabricator, and get the cat removed and some decent quality plain pipe welded in its place.
Not only will it be a decent fit first go, it will not sound stupid and loud like a 1.0 Paxo, and the turbo will spool up much quicker. best bit, it has NO effect on the smoke emissions test for the MOT (i've had 2 MOT passes with nary a question since mine was done), and it's totally legal.
Cheap speed, with some stealth to boot, and the extra 3 or 4 mpg isn't to be sniffed at either.
