I have done an oil change using Total Quartz 9000 5-40.

I read on the net that this was a good oil for Pug Dervs so changed it the other day......Last time it was changed was 2,800 miles ago! I am terrible with my cars, I have to change the oil every 3,000 miles...... Anyway!! Anybody used or heard good reports on this oil?

Yes it is good oil.

You'd be horrified at the fact that I leave my T5 to the scheduled 12-monthly oil changes (around 9000 miles for me) and I too used to change my oil religiously frequent but then I gathered that oil quality is far better than it used to be and it can go the distance these days.

The Volvo takes 7trs of Castrol SLX 0W/30 which comes in at about £76.00 :o

£76.00..........

I loved my T5 but had to sell it after just 7 weeks of owning it as it was horrific on petrol! Mine was Auto though and was told they use a bit more fuel? I was getting an average of 17.2mpg. Such a fantastic car though.

It probably needed the injectors cleaning, there's a retired engineer on the Volvo forum who's developed a piece of kit for cleaning and testing injectors, it's very clever, he only charges about £8.00 each and everyone says how different the car is afterwards with mpg increases of up to 5mpg. Granted it would've only taken yours up to 20mpg but that's almost understandable for an auto about town.

They must sell very well. What do you get on average MPG wise mate? The way fuel prices are now.....Well I dont think any of us can afford to own a performance car anymore ......And was told the other day that in another 2 weeks its going up again by 5p per litre so diesel will average around £1.41 per litre :x What gets me is in Dubai pay 17p per litre for petrol.....Ok they are basically sitting on oil but we really are getting screwed for fuel......going into a bit of a rant here!

It does 25 to 26 mpg pretty much all the time, 33mpg on a nice run.

I don't think that's too bad, I have a pretty swift journey to work over 11 miles and touching 80/90mph if I feel like it but mostly cruising at 65 on very quiet roads...........these roads actually:

I have not one set of traffic lights or any major junctions to negotiate, it's just a smooth run from door to door.
