Heavy droning noise.

I have a 1996 1.9 diesel, 225,000 miles and runs very well.
In the last few weeks it has developed a heavy droning noise, like a Second World War heavy bomber.
Is not the engine as it continues when I coast. It's not causing any problems other than the Radio has to be TURNED UP.
I am planning doing the timing belt in a couple of weeks, so any ideas where to look for the source of the droning?

Regards,
Colin.

Classic wheel bearing noise.

Jack up each wheel in turn and spin the wheel, you will know when you find it.

Probably wheel bearing, but my 'wheel bearing' turned out to be a lumpy tyre.
