I have a 406 2.0 HDI diesel it theres no boost( engine 2200 rpm max only). Check faulty code - P0238 - MAP sensor error. Where is the MAP sensor on my car ?

Ask nicely, and someone might go to the bother of telling you.

Demand, and they won't

That's a bit harsh catflem! I get in a right old flap when summat's bust.

Welcome markoni. Soz, but I don't know. I can't remember ever seeing anything about MAPs on here, which may be why answers have not been more readily forthcoming.

BTW: you get turbo boost from 1800rpm. Sounds like the engine management light is on which has put the car into "limp home mode" which limits the rpm like this.

Hi markoni & welcome to the site. 8)

I'm not sure, but your car may not have a MAP sensor as the turbo boost is controlled mechanically on the HDi 90, (110 & 136 models have electronic boost control) I think

This is the sensor layout for an HDi 90 / Bosch system, (Newer 90's have Siemens systems), but neither has a corresponding sensor to the other HDi's.

Someone else may know better, please comment if you do.

Don't we all :)

But to sign up to a forum, and then expect someone to spend their valuable time responding to your request/demand (delete as appropriate) without so much as a Hi, let alone a thanks, is not going to get people rushing to your assistance..... which is probably why the question remained unanswered.

And I've been in a shitty mood since I got in  I'm not usually such a stroppy git :)

A better response would have been "when you get a chance come and introduce yourself over in the "Welcome" section", that way you get a little dig in about the unfriendly first post but don't come over like some territorial ogre. I'm with rwb, I'm not at my most friendly when I'm panicking either.

The 110 has a pressure sensor on the intercooler but the 90 doesn't have either an intercooler or pressure sensor. Searching with p0238 definitely comes back with turbo pressure sensor, despite the car's apparent lack of one. Off for some research...

I thought the OP's request was quite abrupt too, this is a free community forum and does not require paid membership like others. Making a post which basically demands a response without offering anything in return is always going to go down like a lead balloon.

Wouldn't this fault be to do with the vacuum solenoid on the bulkhead? maybe it has dropped the boost and the wastegate has defaulted to wide open?

It's not the first time someone's come on the forum in a panic and requested an answer without being polite, but this is the first time everyone's got upset about it.

This is driving me nuts, it's definitely too high turbo pressure but I can't see how it would know about it if it has no pressure sensor :? Unless this is one of those times a fault code has nothing to do with the sensor that it refers to...

As Welly says, the bit that controls the wastegate on the turbo is the vacuum solenoid up on the bulkhead - check the tiny filter on the bottom of the vacuum solenoid up on the bulkhead for being blocked up and check the vacuum pipes for damage/falling off. To test it will need vacuum gages etc. Other than that, the wastegate could be damaged/stuck. I hate this, this is ignoring the fact that the ECU is using telepathy to detect the fault :frown:

This might be worth asking about over on the BBA reman forum (http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/)

That's true on a 110 - but I thought a 90 had one less solenoid valve and a mechanical pressure regulator.

(FWIW the 136 doesn't do it this way either cos of the V/G turbo). :?

 I give up, there's no way it can give this fault code :(

The MAP sensor is on position 14 in the drawing send by Dogslife. It is measuring the airflow going into the engine and the amount of injected diesel fuel can be corrected by this measurement. These senors have a limited lifetime, I'de to replace mine as well.
