Leaky Rocker Cover Gasket

As my driveway can confirm I've had a small oil leak from the rocker cover since I bought the car but never got round to fixing it. Since a rather over enthusiastic top up 2 weeks ago (I slightly over filled it :oops: ) it's making a right mess of the engine and the drive.
a few questions;
Can the rocker cover be removed without removing the turbo/air pipework?
Does a leaky rocker cover affect power output?
What's the best engine degunker at a reasonable price?

I haven't been losing at lot of oil but after getting under the car for the first time in a while on sunday a little oil goes a long bloody way!!!! it's everywhere!!!!

It's a 1.9td btw

Have you checked the breather pipe connection to the top of the rocker cover as this is were mine was leaking. The oil was then running around the back of the engine and dripping down, a clean up and new jubilee clip sorted it.

yes the rocker cover can be done without touching all those things you mention.

as marky says , check the black pipes that go to the air filter box . one thiner pipe also runs back to the dipstick hole this is the oil breather pipe

these bust on my 1.9 1 year ago and was causing oil to seep out.

PS - get a 10mm spanner and VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY tighten the bolts that hold the rocker cover in place.
4 weeks ago my car was seeping oil out. jasper5 tightened the bolts up and then oil isnt there anymore :mrgreen:

but as i say DO NOT over tighten them. be very carefull indeed. a slight nick is all they will need.
mine were really loose :shock:

Thanks for the advice, I've bought a new gasket from my local CES for £6, will make sure everything is done up properly and give it a clean.
