Evening folks, bit of a car nub i'm afraid but just wanted some advice on the following.
I'm looking for a bit of help fixing this little problem. I've been having problems with the car cutting out now and again and have found a quite bad fuel leak that i'm hoping is the cause of the prob;em.
The leak is coming from a short plastic pipe on the front bottrom of the fuel filter housing, i just wanted to know is this a bleed valve for the fuel filter?
it has a knurled cap on it which suggests it's a screw type affair but i don't want to force it to tighten or loose if it isn't.
Is where the fual is leaking from a bleed valve and can i just take the cap off and try and tighten it back on or am i looking at replacing the whole housing?
Any help or advice gratefully recived. Cheers

Hiya mate,
the tap is for draining the fuel filter it shouid be tight or it will draw in air,
you can loosen it but have a container or rag handy to mop up any spills,
they shouid just be tightend idont think loosening and putting it back on again wouid make much differnce,
id just tighten it ,
~ive never took mine all the way out ive just give it 2 turns and its drained,
hope that helps if any,

Thanks for that mate,
I have now tried tightening that up today but it hasn't budged a millimetre and the fuel isa still dripping out of it when the engine is running.Do you think i'm best of just replacing the whole housing on this or is there a little washer in the drain valve that may have perished over the years?

Hi mate
There is no little washer and if it is as tight as it will go then you need a new fuel filter housing. Are you near Milton Keynes as I can have a look for you as had the same trouble.
Paul.

If it is the 2 port Siemens (190162) I have one I can send, it ran OK on my old 406.
They're the most awkward to get ones, as everyone has the 2 port Bosch (hexagon style top) or the 3 port Siemens.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've ahd someone look at it and the fuel leak has been fixed but the fault still hapopens so it couldn;t have been the fuel leak causing it.
Every now and again (weeks) the engine just cuts out, engine warning light comes on, i can turn the engine over and it will fire again after three or four attempts but not without a huge cloud of thick white smoke coming out the back. After that the car will run spot on again for another couple fo weeks.
I was hoping the fuel leak was the problem and the fault was caused by air gettingn into the filter but i've been proved wrong, could you guys offer any dvice top what might be the cause? I regularly use redex in the tank but eas thinking of putting some in jector cleaner in there instead in case that was at fault?
