Any ideas on how I could fix this.....For cheap!!

Post by Mastiff »

I think my AFM may have died

I have an idea but dont know if it will work! I buy new AFM from Peugeot and carefully unwrap it and try it out on my car........If it works then great if not then if I put it back nice and neatly back into its original packaging and return it and say I found out it was something else so not tried or fitted the AFM. Reason for this is they are nearly £100 (So I have been told?) So dont really want to part with £100 if it does not cure the problem.......Think my plan will work or will the parts people examine the AFM to see if it has been used and may not return my money?!

if its a part that has to be specially ordered it wont work because you cannot return order parts to dealers .

You mean what everyone calls the MAF, the air metering device that sits after the air filter?

19207S AIR METRG DEVIC 108.34 GBP :frown:

Looking about 40 quid delivered from ebay. It's a fairly common Pug/Citroen part, also on the Fiat versions it's 9629471080.

The Siemen's part number is 5WK9621.

Oh my gawd, you can even buy them cheaper than Pug from Amazon   http://www.amazon.co.uk/Citroen-Peugeot ... B003ZVXA7G

I think you would be hit with a "handling charge" at least.

Forgot to say....... My car runs exactly the same with the MAF plugged in and unplugged, surely it should change engine note? Could a faulty MAF result in giving no boost till 3,000rpm+ ?
