Hi all,
Can you easily fit/add on the cruise control unit from the GLX’s? I ask as I have an LX
Thanks,
Andy

I don't think it's that easy, it is computer controlled, and receives inputs from many sources including throttle brake pedal and clutch pedal, the wiring is probably in place but I suspect the system would have it's own ECU or the a modified standard ECU.
I wouldn't bother, I can't really see the point of cruise control myself, you would only use it on a very quiet section of motorway and even then you would get bored and keep altering it.
Anyway, how's your car? The boost was fixed with the VAC pump but it still wasn't right any further news?

Hi,
Yes the car is all fixed as far as I know, the other problem was caused by my poor driving habits from the old 309 (cable clutch), I use to leave my foot rested on top of the clutch pedal waiting to change gear (very lazy) but as the new one has a hydraulic clutch doing that makes the clutch slip if you are accelerating (Can I smell burning clutch)
I have to say I really like the old 406, looking at the other options I had I think I made the right choose (Polo, Golf, old mondeo) I have never been a fan of small cars and ford well need I same more (IMO boring design and rubbish handling)
I think I will get it some good oil and change it at the weekend, may also change the filters as the car was not burning all the fuel probably as the turbo was not working.
After getting some alloy wheels (pug standard) and sorting some fog lights and the trip computer out soon, as well as being a collection of spears of the net, already got a pug standard CD player for the front (£30).
DOES ANY BODY NEED THE CASSETTE PLAYER HEAD UNIT?
Many Thanks,
Andy
NB; is your car fixed now?

Yes, the slightest touch on the clutch pedal sends it into a spin.
I have got my Engine Diagnostic light on at the moment (see other thread) but car was performing well upto then with good boost etc, looking into these problems next week.
My clutch is just about hanging in there and will be left until I have the money ready.
Glad your getting on well with the car, and keep your foot away from the clutch!, there's a nice foot rest for that

Actually I wouldn't be too sure about the wiring being in place, after all the wiring for the trip computer is a lot simpler and yet it's absent on models without it
I really want to get my trip computer wired in one day though...
