It may sound Daft as idont like this company But they do a Recharge or No charge service so if they carnt get the air-con working they wont charge you,

Kwik fit 8)

idont know wether they use a dye or not tho but ipresume so as all kwik fit employees have been on courses and are Qualified to work on Air-con.
so ipresume they will add a dye and wear the special glasses they use to see the UV dye

Might be worth asking in kwik fit but dont tell them some one as already tried to Re-charge the air con already

Good luck mate,

Idont miss the air con on mine the blower seems blow out plenty of cold ish air,
engine sounds a lot Happier withought it too,

Just watch for it Snapping belts if theyve been run dry for a bit the air-comp can start to go noisey and Eventualy they seize,
Mine chewed the belt and snapped off the bottom crank pulley got a new Air con pump fitted and it kept snapping belts so it went in the Wheelie bin
